Jelithza Miranda of South Houston High School will receive the William P. Jones Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She will graduate number 52 in a class of 551 students with a grade point average of 4.276- She plans to attend University of Houston to pursue Pre-Med to become a General Dr.
Jelithza is the daughter of Joel and Juana Miranda
 
Sandra Lopez of Sam Rayburn High School will receive the Buddy Gillioz Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She will graduate number 22 in a class of 609 students with a grade point average of 4.59. She plans to attend University of Houston to study education, specifically Special Education or in the Social Services Field.

Noe Rodriguez of Sam Rayburn High School will receive the Norman S. Clauson Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. He will graduate number 26 in a class of 609 students with a grade point average of 4.48. He plans to attend San Jacinto College to study either Engineering or Healthcare field, He is researching jobs that can combine the two together like Biomedical Engineering.

Daisy Curiel of South Houston High School will receive the Pasadena South Rotary Club President’s Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She will graduate number 56 in a class of 551 students with a grade point average of 4.23. She plans to attend Sam Houston State University and major in Criminal Justice.

Edgar Gonzalez-Vega of Sam Rayburn High School will receive the LCpl Garrett Gamble Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. He will graduate number 76 in a class of 609 students with a grade point average of 4.106. He plans to attend San Jacinto College to combine two majors, Criminal Justice and Psychology into a degree in Criminal Psychology.

Linda Rodriquez is the District Corrdinator of PBIS Multi-Tiered System of Behavioral Support for Pasadena ISD.
Her focus is on mental health education/awareness, social emotional learning, building trauma-informed school environments, developing kinesthetic classrooms, embedding restorative practices that build positive relationships and repair harm to the students. She is piloting the district's first use of a virtual platform (telehealth) to provide direct counseling services to youth struggling with mild to moderate mental health concerns related to trauma, grief, anxiety and depression.

Nicole let us know all the great things "Stuff the Sleigh", a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is doing for pediatric cancer patients and families. They provide an escape for pediatric cancer patients during the Christmas Season. Their efforts are aimed at giving each patient and family they assist the joy and spirit of Christmas through year-round giving.

Also, the City is in the middle of their "Can Do Food Drive". The donations will be distributed to 5 local food banks. The drive will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16th. from 8:00am-6:00pm at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium. If you would like to volunteer please email volunteerpasadena@ci.pasadena.tx.us

Zachary Alexander has served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. He was deployed twice. 2007-2008 and 2009-2010.
When he returned back home with PTSD he found Camp Hope. Now he is a fire fighter and a Mentor at Camp Hope and helping his brothers through their PTSD.
Camp Hope provides interim housing for our Wounded Warriors, Veterans and their families suffering from combat related PTSD in a caring and positive environment.
They are a 501c3 organization and work solely on donations.

The Pasadena Memorial HS Interact Club participated in Purple Pinkie Day today. After making a donation, students, teachers and even the campus Principal left their purple pinkie print on our trifold board. Our speaker will be Captain Wennen.
 

Captain Wennen is from Madison Indiana and has served on continuous active duty since 1983. He enlisted as an E-1 and has served on both coasts at numerous Navy Special Warfare SEAL and Boat Teams. In June 2015, he assumed command of Houston’s Navy Reserve Center on Ellington Field where he prepares 1,000 Houston Sailors for deployments around the globe. Highlights of his career include advising partners across the Pacific and throughout the Middle East. He led SEALs to secure the USS Cole in Yemen. He led SEALs in combat across Iraq during multiple tours. Prior to Houston he served in Tampa at the Special Operations Command where he coordinated NATO special operations efforts to fight ISIS.


He is a graduate of the Army Staff College and has a Political Science Masters from Kansas State University.


He and his wife Jackie live in the Houston area and have four children and six grandchildren
